English New Zealand is part of the international language travel industry that includes English UK and English Australia etc. It's purpose is to set standards for New Zealand providers who teach English language, and includes both government (universities and polytechnics) and private English language sectors.
It is important to note that unlike Education New Zealand, English New Zealand has standards for membership that are higher than the standards required by NZQA (Course Quality) and the 'Code' (Pastoral Care). The reason for this is that the government quality assurance systems do not adequately measure the quality of the specific characteristics of English Language Centres.
English New Zealand's standards are daunting to many English Language schools and as such only the best schools in New Zealand are members.
