Key Content Structure
To help improve students literacy, King's has a special High School Preparation (HSP) programme called Comprehension Instruction Stategy (CSI). This programme focuses on Science, Mathematics, Social Science, English Language and Arts. This is a digitally enhanced programme which uses very colourful work books, movies and photos, where students can understand word meanings very quickly. CSI will be run in our specially equipped Audio Visual theatres. We can display the CSI programme onto a big screen to maximise its potential. This will improve the students educational understanding as well as improve their literacy.
Of course, English comprehension, grammar and writing skills will also be developed. Areas covered will help students to develop their mathematics, social studies and English skills.
Topics include:
- Improving English literacy
- Develop general understanding of science principles
- Improve the use of formulas and equations
- Increase the understanding of the natural world
- Increase understanding of the physical world
- Enhance understanding of social interaction
- Learn about New Zealand's culture and history
- Develop a high level of research ability
- Develop speed for note taking and summarising skills
